Item Description
Solebury Township is offering open bidding on a 135 Ton platform scale located at the former site of New Hope Crushed Stone, located at 6970 Phillips Mill Road, New Hope PA. 18938
There are two scales present at the site, and each are listed separately. The scales are in the present condition and position when the quarry ceased operation in 2017. The scales are not currently certified however their prior certifications lapsed in 2018. Prior scale certification records can be obtained from Bucks County Weights and Measures Department if so desired.
The scales will be each identified as “Inside” and “Outside” Scale due to their proximity to the prior scale house.
Each scale is accompanied with the scale platform and all associated supports for the existing scale, the outside display, the inside head unit/display module, all associated wiring, and the adjacent steel catwalk adjacent to each scale.
The quarry property is secured and not accessible to the public and monitored by the Solebury Police Department. If potential bidders are interested in inspecting the scale prior to the end of the bidding process they may contact Corporal Aaron Soldavin, Solebury Police Truck Enforcement at asoldavin@soleburypd.org to schedule a time to inspect the scale.
The scale is being sold as non-operational but the scale outside display lights up, the inside display turns on and the scale does register when weight is applied to it although it is not accurate. We have been in contact with the manufacturer, Cardinal Scales from Webb City, MO, for technical support.
Each scale will need to be removed from its current location by the winning bidder. Appropriate lifting and hauling equipment will be necessary and be the sole responsibility of the winning bidder. Liability insurance will also need to be provided to the Solebury Township prior to removal. Access for equipment is unrestricted for height and width concerns. Limited assistance can be provided by Solebury Township Public Works Equipment if requested in advance and a proper operational plan is presented. Again, all concerns/requests shall be addressed to Corporal Aaron Soldavin asoldavin@soleburypd.org
